Rhythm
Method
Rooters Nightclub
January 8th, 2005
Turn-about is fair play in love and war - - and band reviews!
Michael
here - from the band The Sweettarts
- to review the band Rhythm Method from their Rooter's performance on
January 8th, 2005.
For
those of you logged on this site not familiar with my band The
Sweettarts, let's just put it this way - your kids probably come see
us!
I've
been a fan of these guys for over a decade.
(Sorry to age everybody!) These
guys are like catnip for musicians.
In fact I liked them so much I married their female singer from
back in the days when they had one.
Down
to business –
The
night started out with Led Zepplin's
Kashmir
. I thought it was a
brilliant opening song even though Bobby's jeans were not as tight
fitting as Robert Plant's. The
first set was just a disgusting display of talent.
Ya...I get it already!!!
My brain started to hurt after the Rush and Yes.
That's just way too much math for a Saturday night!
I was aching for something in 4/4!
Every
time Bobby would hit a note that only dog's could hear, I would look
back at our singer (Mark) and he would look at me and say "That
Focker!". Not to many
singers can change the timbre of their voice to emulate but he does it
well!
The
fun part of the night was when my friends would come up to me and ask
which guitarist is better. I
would just simply reply "That's like choosing between Lennon and
McCartney". Even my
guitarist (Angelo) would lean over and say "He's a bad Mutha
F#@*&!" after some of the guitar solos.
That's quite a compliment because Angelo doesn't even speak
English.
I
had a hard time finding anything that wasn't perfect, but there it
was....thank God! Their set
was so long I found myself really feeling that
"bladder-buster" sized Red Bull I had on the way to the show
and I wasn't gonna pee until they went on break.
So, I highly recommend either a "stadium buddy" or a
pair of "Depends" if attending a show.
Rhythm
Method has always been a Love/Hate relationship for me.
I love seeing them because they are the best but then I hate them
because they are the best. I
almost put my drumset up on Ebay when I got home.
In some funny way though I find them really inspiring and
motivating to my own music after the initial week of depression wears
out.
Final
thoughts -
These
guys are the bible of what a cover band should be.
The night was awesome - even the parts when I had to talk to
Kevin
when he was on break (just kidding).
If you want to see a band that emulates the original tunes and
plays songs that no other band can, then Rhythm Method is for you!
