BRENT'S DIARY

March 29, 2005

Saturday March 26th we packed up the RM family and took it out to Madison for our debut at the Badger Bowl.  Having not played Madison since last summer, we weren't sure what to expect for turnout.  We were surprised that many of the folks who used to see us at the Dry Bean, remembered the name and despite being the eve of an early morning Easter egg hunt for many of our crowd, braved on and faced the following day with a little less sleep.  We have to give thanks to Lisa from Madison (sorry, didn't get a last name) for apparently telling just about everyone she knows to come out to the show.  Apparently most of them did in fact show up!

The first set started as it usually does with Kashmir by Zeppelin.  This always gets a roar of approval but on this night immediately following the roar,  out of the dark came a heavily intoxicated woman pawing at Bobby's legs.  It was humorous to watch his reaction and Kevin and I both found it difficult to continue playing while laughing hysterically at him.  He could not have been ANY further from the front of the stage and at one point I swear his ankles were wedged against the front of Kevin's drum riser trying to escape her grasp.  However, it wasn't so funny when I had to sing Rosanna and she focused her attention to me. Not funny at all in fact.

We had some Madison friends and even some Milwaukee friends make the trip up.  Many people probably remember Brooke St. James (formerly of the Toys) - Brooke has a new project called Creem and they make their debut at Badger Bowl this Friday night so he was out dropping off some promo material and hanging out.  Check them out this weekend!  They rock!

A few new things in the camp, but outside the camp as well.  For anyone that doesn't know, Bobby performs every Thursday night at Bubs in Germantown with his acoustic project SPANK featuring KB from the KLH morning show and Kevin Sucher from the Heros.  It's like a combination of music and comedy and it's truly worth the trip to see it. Not for the faint hearted, though! It can get pretty raw!

Also newsworthy, Dave Dettlaff is now teaching guitar at Cascio Interstate Music in New Berlin.  If you've seen the band, which you probably have or you wouldn't be reading this, you know that Dave is a fantastic player and one of the best in the city.

Locate the Cascio Interstate link on our web page to contact the store to set up a time for Dave to teach you how to play Eruption and The Clap!

Lastly, for those interested. I have a Def Leppard tribute band that's currently under development for an '05 debut.  It features yours truly, and former RM Keyboardist Tim Davis as well as some close friends who are great players.  You can check out the website at www.photographrocks.com.

Rhythm Method returns to the Milwaukee Ale House on April 23rd and we're bringing back a few old songs and adding a few new ones to the sets!  Come out early, because last time it filled up by 9pm and stayed that way through the end!

Take care and see you in a month,

Brent
