BRENT'S DIARY

December 7, 2004

Seasons Greetings and welcome to the diary.  The band made the journey down to Kenosha for our debut LU performance at the legendary Brat Stop.  Why is it legendary you ask?  I don't know...but most of the well known Chicago bands (Styx, Cheap Trick, REO etc...) have graced this stage at one point or another so in my mind, it's got it's share of nostalgic charisma.

The longtime LU followers are aware that we don’t often learn new Styx material.  We have always done the "hits" and peppered in some of the lesser known songs for the diehards.  We decided to try something new for the two December shows this year.  We've learned several songs from the Grand Illusion album that we hadn’t previously done in order to do the album from front to back in its entirety.

The Brat Stop show was the first we tried it at. It appeared to be well received by the large crowd on Saturday.  So, to the guy who's been asking for "Man in the Wilderness" for the entire duration of Light Up, you will now have your wish.  It took 4 years, but we hope you like it.  After the completion of the "album" set, we will take a short break and then return for the remainder of the usual Styx stuff we do.

The Rooters show on December 18th is sure to be a great time.  Our Stage Tech "Metal" Mike Miley will be celebrating his birthday with us again this year up in the VIP area.  Mike loves shots and hates beer.  Those who follow the band closely may remember the last time we did a December Light Up show in 2002, Mike held his party with us at Rooters the night we were filming for a DVD.  You may or may not also recall a beautiful blonde blow up doll frolicking through the crowd.  This year the Cutty Black shot girls will be competing with the blow up doll for Mike’s attention.  The girls dance in cages and sell shots.  I can’t wait to watch them bump and grind to "Show me the way".  That alone will be worth the cost of admission.

So please mark the 18th on your calendars and be at Rooters because it may be the last time you ever get to see Bobby sing an entire set of Styx music wearing a Santa suit with reindeer tied to the drum riser.

Happy Holidays,

Brent
